Pharmaceutical drug delivery and packaging specialist Catalent Pharma Solutions is installing Harro Hoefliger's Omnidose filling equipment at its Research Triangle Park facility in North Carolina, US.
The company says this dry powder inhaler (DPI) filling line will cement its leading position in manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical inhalation sector. The technology supports all clinical manufacture through Phase II/III and a scaleable path to higher volume late stage clinical and commercial manufacturing.
The Harro Hoefliger equipment is an advanced technology for microdosing 1-300mg of powder into a range of DPI formats to include both capsule-based and pre-metered blister device formats. Catalent will now be able to serve as a one-stop shop for the development of all inhalation dosage forms. This new addition complements the company's existing automated pMDI infrastructure.
Catalent has extensive experience with all pulmonary dosage forms including pMDIs, DPIs, nasal sprays and solutions/suspensions for inhalation.
