Cellexus Biosystems granted fundamental technology patent in UK
Cellexus Biosystems, a UK specialist in the design, manufacture and commercialisation of novel disposable technology for growing cells, has been issued with the British patent GB2433216 covering the core technology for the CellMaker family of disposable bioreactor and fermentor products.
Cellexus Biosystems, a UK specialist in the design, manufacture and commercialisation of novel disposable technology for growing cells, has been issued with the British patent GB2433216 covering the core technology for the CellMaker family of disposable bioreactor and fermentor products.
"The grant of this first patent for the technology is an important milestone for Cellexus Biosystems as it provides us with the protection we require to exploit our position in cell culture and fermentation and validates the novelty of our single-use bioreactor and fermentors," said Dr Kevin Auton, inventor of the CellMaker technology.
"We now routinely demonstrate that the CellMaker technology is as effective as a traditional stirred bioreactor, even for fermentation, which requires high rates of oxygen transfer. High mass transfer of oxygen is achieved without moving parts and is a result of the unique bioreactor geometry.
"This patent will be filed in all major markets and has already been filed in the US."
