Diatech Pharmacogenetics, an Italian molecular diagnostics company, is expanding into laboratory instrumentation with Labcycler, a compact PCR thermal cycler designed for robustness, accuracy and ease of use.
Developed by Germany-based SensoQuest and now manufactured at Diatech's facility in Jesi, Italy, Labcycler combines German engineering with Italian manufacturing.
Nucleic acid amplification supports applications from oncology and forensics to veterinary, plant and environmental testing, requiring accurate and reproducible laboratory results.
The acquisition builds on Diatech's first-hand experience with Labcycler.
After evaluating its reliability and precision through more than 30 years of molecular diagnostics R&D expertise, Diatech took over manufacturing and development to bring the product to a wider market.

Labcycler's electroformed, gold-plated silver block reaches target temperatures faster than typical aluminium blocks.
It provides ±0.01 °C control accuracy and uniform temperatures for reproducible PCR results, while an integrated gradient supports primer annealing optimisation and assay development.
Interchangeable blocks support 96-well 0.2 mL tubes, strips and plates or 384-well high-throughput applications.
Each includes its own processor, gradient capability and independently controlled Peltier elements. The quick-change system allows blocks to be swapped in seconds.
A colour touchscreen enables quick protocol creation and editing, real-time run monitoring and minimal training.
Password protection can be set for groups, users, folders and individual programs.
Rated for up to 600,000 cycles — about 20 years of use — Labcycler offers laboratories a durable, accurate and cost-effective investment.
