EU paediatric medicine network to be launched
July deadline for self-assessment by applicant research centres and groups
European research centres and groups with expertise in child clinical studies have been asked to apply for membership of the European Paediatric Research Network at the European Medicines Agency (EnprEMA). They have until 31 July to undertake a self-assessment demonstrating their suitability to join this EMA body.
Applicants will have to show sufficient research experience, scientific competence, organisational structure and quality management processes. Also they must operate effective training and education programmes and involve patients and parents in their work.
EnprEMA will be controlled by a ‘Co-ordinating Group’. It will be charged with helping the pharmaceutical industry access paediatric clinical study centres and experts; identifying new groups not presently included in EnprEMA; and developing educational tools for children and parents to boost clinical trials participation.
