Fortress Technology's Phantom Gravity metal detection system, on display at this year's PPMA show at the NEC in the UK, is for accurate inline inspection of bulk dry, powder or granular products and is equipped with the British Retail Consortium-accredited Vector integrated conveyor.

The Contact data logging communication software for improved report generation will also be demonstrated at the packaging and processing equipment show at the end of September.

The Phantom Gravity inspects bulk products that can be gravity fed through a pipe, including powders and chemicals. Capable of detecting and rejecting ferrous and non-ferrous metals, the system incorporates the latest digital signal processing (DSP) technology for unrivalled precision, speed and inspection results, the company says.

Available in painted aluminium or stainless steel with standard and custom aperture or pipe type and sizes, the machine is of modular design and built with anti-static pipes, air control and a ceiling support frame. An automatic reject valve diverts contaminated product into a reject tank.

The company's UltraSense function ensures high sensitivity levels for detecting the smallest of metal contaminants.

The Vector "all-in-one" conveyor concept has been designed to realise the full potential of Fortress Technology's Phantom standard rectangular aperture metal detectors while maximising the accuracy of the whole system. It also complies with increasingly stringent standards set by retailers and food standards agencies such as the BRC.

Fortress advanced Contact software with wireless connectivity has been developed to enable PC communication with Phantom metal detectors. It provides detailed event logging, data collection and report generation.
