InnoCentive, the online chemistry problem-solving enterprise, has entered into an agreement with Opportunia Enterprises, with the backing of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), the largest r&d organisation in India. The agreement will offer CSIR scientists the ability to work on InnoCentive scientific challenges and raises the potential for this talented group of Indian scientists to achieve international recognition and financial rewards.

Furthermore, InnoCentive has announced the first wet chemistry solution award paid to a solver from India. The solution was for a demanding $75,000 synthetic organic chemistry challenge.

According to Dr R.A. Mashelkar, director general of CSIR: 'InnoCentive offers an opportunity for Indian scientists to solve scientific challenges from world-class companies and to be recognised for their expertise.'

Innocentive has also expanded into China, motivated by the country's large and fast-growing community of scientists, students and professors and accelerated interest from the Chinese scientific community.

Ceo Darren Carroll recently led an InnoCentive group to Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai to meet leading Chinese scientists. Work has already begun on translating the InnoCentive website into simplified Chinese.
