Lehuu joins marine biotech Aquapharm

Takes responsibility for business development in biopharmaceuticals at the Scotland-based firm

Bertrand Lehuu, who has almost 30 years’ experience in senior roles in many of Europe’s pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, has joined marine biotechnology firm Aquapharm Biodiscovery as senior vice president, Pharma Business.

Bertrand, well-known as a biopharmaceutical dealmaker, will be responsible for business development in this field for Aquapharm, which is based in Scotland at the European Centre for Marine Biotechnology in Oban and at Heriot-Watt University Research Park in Edinburgh.

Lehuu has built his career as a business development specialist in the Pasteur Institute, Flamel Technologies, F-Hoffmann La Roche, Basilea, Neuro3d, BioXell and most recently PharmaSwiss.

His new role at Aquapharm marks a return to the cutting-edge of biotechnology in a company focused on discovering and developing new pharmaceutical, personal care and nutritional products from marine microorganisms.

The appointment of Lehuu is the latest in a series of prominent appointments at Aquapharm. Mats Pettersson joined the board in January and last year, Simon Best became chief executive, while Tim Morley was named chief scientific officer and Aquapharm founder, Andrew Mearns Spragg, moved to the role of chief technology officer.
