The set-up of a performance chemicals production base in China using state of the art technology has been initiated 'to augment long-term strategic supply relationships serving captive demand,' the company said. The facility will come on stream in the second half of 2008.
In parallel, the introduction of the innovative direct amination technology in Mapleton, IL to secure market leadership in North America is well under way.
The increase of the production capacity is a strategic move to strengthen the position of Lonza's Fine chemicals and performance chemicals division in the growing market. Products from the plant will be used in antimicrobial applications.
