The firm has now launched four companies through its Entrepreneur Partnership Program

Merck Serono, the biopharmaceuticals division of Merck KGaA headquartered in Switzerland, has created TQM Insight, the fourth company stemming from its Entrepreneur Partnership Program (EPP) launched in April 2012.

TQM Insight is a services company specialising in IT governance, a critical need for companies operating in regulated industries such as the pharmaceutical, chemicals and banking sectors. Merck Serono is committing more than €1.8m in contracts to TQM Insight over the next 18 months and will become the spin-off’s first client.

‘The formation of TQM Insight allows our former employees to capitalise on their experience at Merck Serono, to start a unique and promising business in IT governance,’ said Frédéric Wohlwend, group chief information officer of Merck. ‘We strongly believe that TQM Insight's offering will meet the specific needs of the many companies in the regulated industries based in the Lake Geneva area, and beyond.’

In addition to Merck‘s financial commitment, the company will consider TQM Insight as a preferred business partner for future projects, added Wohlwend.

TQM Insight will initially employ six people from the information service governance unit to be led by Gary Price, formerly the corporate director of IT Governance at Merck Serono.

In addition to TQM Insight, the EPP has created Prexton Therapeutics, Quartz Bio, Asceneuron. Further employee projects are currently being evaluated and will be announced during 2013.
