Contract research organisation now able to handle preformulation through to Phase IIa trials

Molecular Profiles has expanded its service offering to include new manufacturing capabilities, which enable the Nottingham, UK-based contract research organisation to handle larger projects for pharmaceutical clients from preformulation through to Phase IIa trials.

The new manufacturing capability, located at the firm’s existing Nottingham site, will initially focus on difficult-to-formulate molecules.

Molecular Profiles has provided analytical and formulation services to major pharmaceutical companies for more than a decade.

The new manufacturing facilities now enable the firm to provide formulation development, preformulation, polymorph screening, salt selection, analytical services and clinical trial manufacturing up to Phase IIa.

Molecular Profiles’ chief executive Nikin Patel said: ‘Our company has the expertise to work on difficult-to-handle molecules and in particular, poorly water soluble drugs and highly potents. The expansion of our service offering greatly reduces the need for technical transfer and ensures products get developed in time.’

Founded in 1997 by a group of pharmaceutical scientists at the University of Nottingham’s School of Pharmacy, Molecular Profiles has developed a wide portfolio of clients from specialised drug delivery firms and biotechs to multinational pharmaceutical companies.
