South Wales-based Biotec Services International has recruited Ravi Nalliah from Broomfield & Alexander to the new position of financial controller and Ed Lewis to the operations team as senior project manager.

Bridge Laboratories has appointed Haijun (Lou) Dong as general manager at its Beijing, China, facility. Prior to joining Bridge, Dong was a member of the senior management team and head of DMPK and drug safety at Roche's r&d centre in Shanghai for three years.

Catalent Pharma Solutions has appointed John Chiminski as president and ceo. He will also join the board of directors. George Fotiades, who has been in the role on an interim basis, will step down but will continue as chairman of Catalent's board of directors.

Genzyme has promoted Dominic Carolan to senior vice-president for the Haverhill, UK and Waterford, Ireland operations and Simon Cousins to vice-president of contract manufacturing operations. Both will be based at the Haverhill facility.

Evotec's new ceo is Dr Werner Lanthaler. In his previous position he was chief financial officer of biopharma vaccines company Intercell in Vienna, Austria.

Johnson Matthey's executive director of process technologies and fine chemicals and catalysts, Dr P N Hawker, has retired and will stand down from the board of directors in July. Director of the precious metal products division, W F Sandford, is appointed executive director and will join the board in July. L C Pentz, executive director of emission control technologies, has become executive director of the environmental technologies division.

Mandeep Smith, formerly a method development chemist at GlaxoSmithKline, has joined the National Skills Academy Process Industries team as employment engagement manager.
