Double-digit growth in sales by Organon, its human healthcare business, helped to offset pressure on Akzo Nobel's chemicals and coatings sectors in the third quarter of the financial year. Pharmaceutical sales rose by 10% to €205m.

NuvaRing, an innovative contraceptive vaginal ring, was recently approved, and Arixtra, a new antithrombotic pentasaccharide, has received an approvable letter from the FDA.
