The Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS), the world's largest international membership organisation of regulatory professionals in the biotechnology, medical device, and pharmaceutical sectors, has opened a European office in Brussels.

RAPS Europe will support RAPS programmes, events and operations throughout the region. RAPS, headquartered near Washington DC, in the US, also opened an office in Tokyo last year.

According to RAPS, the work of about 70% of regulatory professionals encompasses issues in multiple geographic regions.

"RAPS' membership includes healthcare product regulatory professionals all over the world, including many in Europe," said RAPS executive director Sherry Keramidas. "RAPS' new office in Brussels allows us better to serve our European members and be more responsive to their needs, as well as more closely track trends at both EU and individual country levels."

RAPS is planning more European events - two programmes in June will cover EU regulatory essentials and take place in Brussels and Vienna. In addition, a workshop in Brussels in November will cover US submissions and compliance.

RAPS will also explore opportunities to help Europe-based professionals learn about and prepare for Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC).
