Silverson supplies custom–built laboratory mixer
Silverson has supplied a custom-built laboratory mixer to generic medicines producer Alpharma, of Barnstable in Devon, for the assay of pharmaceutical products. Alpharma identified a number of special requirements for its mixing equipment, and the two companies developed modifications to Silverson's standard L4RT laboratory mixer.
The special mixer is fitted with a digital tachometer and a timer unit, enabling test runs to be carried out for a fixed time at a uniform speed, ensuring each batch is processed by a defined amount. To improve reproducibility, a non-standard bench stand
arrangement and a workhead and rotor assembly was designed to Alpharma's specification.
