Thermo Electron launches FT-IR spectrometers for advanced r&d

Published: 1-Jun-2004

Thermo Electron Corporation has launched a new line of FT-IR spectrometers for both routine analysis and advanced research. The three models in the Nicolet FT-IR spectrometer series - the 4700, 6700 and 8700 - provide powerful performance, intuitive solutions and advanced application capabilities, the company says, and are fully upgradeable to meet existing and future needs.

The Nicolet FT-IR spectrometer series incorporates Thermo's new ETC EverGlo IR source technology (patent pending) that provides a stabilised signal that adds significantly longer source lifetime, and enables a new 'Turbo Mode' for the analysis of previously intractable IR samples. In addition, gold-coated optics and a redesigned optical layout provide substantially greater signal throughput.

Other ergonomic and productivity features include integrated scan buttons and high-speed USB 2.0 data interfacing. These spectrometers can be configured for multiple spectral ranges, with the option of gold-coated or aluminium mirrors. Upgrade capabilities range from the ability to add multiple beamsplitters for expanded spectral range to step-scan capabilities for advanced applications. External experiment options add capabilities for IR microscopy and imaging, FT-Raman, GC-IR, polarisation modulation, thermogravimetric analysis, and many other techniques and analyses.
