Opens new technology centre in Shanghai to meet local needs

Thermo Fisher Scientific has opened a technology centre in Shanghai, building on its engineering and development capabilities to meet the needs of customers in China. Engineers and support staff will focus on developing a robust product pipeline for customers in the life sciences, environmental monitoring and consumer product safety industries.

‘The China technology centre is another step in our ongoing investment to expand our operations there and leverage our depth of capabilities to develop and manufacture products in China for China,’ said Marc Casper, chief executive of Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Thermo Fisher first entered the Chinese market in 1980, accelerating its activities in 2005 with the opening of a demonstration centre in Shanghai. The firm is opening another demonstration centre this month in Beijing.
