SciMed, a UK distributor of scientific instrumentation, is set to host its annual Rheology Masterclass at its headquarters in Stockport on Thursday, 23 May 2024. Delivered by both SciMed and Thermo-HAAKE applications experts, the event will focus on background rheology theory and how to put it into practice.
The event will include hands-on practical sessions using products from the Thermo-HAAKE portfolio.
Getting to know rheology better
Users of any brand or model of rheometer are welcome to attend the one-day course, which has been designed to benefit rheologists from a wide variety of industries. The event will cover multiple aspects of rheology including; rheological theory (both rotational and oscillatory), tribology, sample preparation and getting the most out of the RheoWin software.
Tickets are priced at £110 (+VAT), which includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
SciMed is delighted to announce that Dr Klaus Oldörp (senior application specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific) and Kevin Barber (northern regional sales account manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific) will be returning as guest speakers for the event, following a successful 2023 event.
Several practical sessions will explore the Thermo-HAAKE portfolio, allowing participants to get beneficial and essential “hands-on” experience. Practical sessions will cover tips on how to best prepare and load samples for testing using the rheometer.
“We hope to bridge the gap between theory and practice,” explained Dr Oldörp. “SciMed’s Masterclass expands on the fundamentals of rheology and explores how innovations from the industry can be used at maximum capacity by lab technicians and researchers in the field of rheology. This event is about combining skills and knowledge to master instrumentation.”
