AFV 5090 system seals ampoules securely
German company Bausch & Stroebel has developed further its AFV 5090 ampoule filling and sealing machine. Greater reliability has been achieved by incorporating a new temperature and control system (radiation pyrometer), which optimises the glass fusion when sealing the ampoules.
The AFV 5090 is an intermittent-motion machine with a linear transport system, designed for industrial high-capacity pharmaceutical production. It processes six ampoules per cycle, giving it output of 18,000 ampoules/hour and can process all open DIN-standard ampoules from 1-30ml.
This machine can easily be integrated into fully automatic production lines in I, L or U-shapes, and the working area can accommodate an isolator and laminar flow conditions by locating of the laser module outside the cleanroom area. After processing, the filled and sealed ampoules are loaded into trays or conveyed to machines downstream.
The closing station is equipped with the Laser Seal System (LSS), which uses state-of-the-art lasers to seal the ampoule stems by melting the glass so that the tip can be removed. Benefits include no particles, no air turbulence, no unwanted heat, no heat extraction fan and optimised processing.
