The company has committed to reducing scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, as well as increasing its use of renewable energy

Contract research, development and manufacturing organisation (CRDMO) BioDuro has had its greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The independent corporate climate action organisation is dedicated to helping companies combat the climate crisis worldwide.

This milestone reinforces BioDuro’s commitment to sustainability and underscores its dedication to environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility.

Through the SBTi's target validations, BioDuro has committed to:

  • 42% absolute reduction in Scope 1 (direct GHG emissions from owned/controlled sources) by 2030
  • 42% absolute reduction in Scope 2 (indirect GHG emissions from purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling) by 2030
  • Parallel monitoring and reduction of Scope 3 (value chain GHG emissions including upstream/downstream activities).

To achieve these targets, BioDuro will establish company-wide energy performance standards, while upgrading equipment to ensure energy efficiency.

The company will also increase its use of renewable energy and promote supply chain decarbonisation.

“In setting science-based targets that are independently validated by SBTi, we at BioDuro are demonstrating our commitment to climate action and our ambitions for decarbonization," said Dr Armin Spura, CEO of BioDuro.

“We will deliver these targets by empowering our R&D and production teams to pioneer eco-friendly solutions, while ensuring operational teams implement best-in-class sustainability practices. We encourage industry partners to join us in pursuing green development initiatives for a sustainable future.”
