Chemineer keeps pharma ingredients inactive

UK-based Chemineer's new DT range of top-entering mixers is helping a major pharmaceutical manufacturer in France enhance the quality and efficiency of production for a product in which the active ingredients must be suspended in solvents. Utilised in 50-, 300- and 400-litre vessels, the DT mixers ensure even suspension while the vessels are being drained.

Available with a wide choice of impeller selections, and in a range of shaft lengths and diameters, this cost-effective mixer is said to offer high performance and low maintenance. For open tank applications, Chemineer offers several mounting options, including angle risers or flat plate mounts, while for closed tanks, a broad range of mixer sealing options are available. In addition, right angle worm drive models can be provided where low-headroom clearance is required.

Meanwhile a high shear mixer from Chemineer has helped a European cancer research society produce a new homeopathic medicine. The Greerco Colloid Mill is said to produce stable emulsions to the sub micron range, with unvarying particle size accuracy and distribution for any emulsion or suspension, whether liquids in liquids or solids in liquids. It is available as a horizontal unit for continuous in-line processing, or as mobile vertical mixer, with hopper for batch production.

CIP or SIP options are available for sensitive applications, and there are two rotor/stator combinations. The standard rotor stator is suitable for most emulsions and dispersions, while the special grooved Rotor/Stator is designed for viscous emulsions, Chemineer says.
