Clog-resistant nozzles improve productivity
Widnes-based Delavan has produced variable coating nozzles that can deliver batch
production cycles lasting up to 18 hours, depending on the nature of the liquids being processed. This is said to be more than twice the guaranteed clog-free cycles of conventional tablet coating spray nozzles.
Available for immediate delivery in volume, the new nozzles provide superior droplet control, Delavan claims. They feature independent and remotely controlled spray widths, atomising air and flow of liquids.
A special internal air cap cylinder design reduces clogging or 'bearding' by sucking out excess coating spray around the nozzle tip. The result is substantially longer, clog-free batch cycles, more consistent runs and reduced maintenance and production downtime.
Variable spray widths of the nozzles enhance the wetted area during coating cycles while reducing the potential for over-wetting of any one spot. Spray width is remotely controlled; adjustments can be made manually or automatically with a control panel.
The new nozzles are compact and designed for fast and easy strip-down and re-assembly. With orifice diameters sized from 0.8 to 2.5mm, they feature 316 stainless steel wetted parts and push-in connectors so no special tools are required.
Every nozzle supplies an identical droplet spectrum and accommodates a wide range of coating media. The variable coating nozzles are produced at Delavan's ISO 9001 certified plants.
