Biotrace International has re-branded its environmental monitoring pre-prepared media as Biotrace PPM - an integral part of the company's microbiology and life science product portfolio following the acquisition of Fred Baker Scientific in October 2002.

Although the name has changed, the product specifications and manufacturing process remain unaltered. The re-branded media is produced to GMP standards at one of Biotrace International's manufacturing sites based in Cheshire, UK - the first in Europe to be certified to the Pharmaceutical Suppliers Code of Practice (PSCOP). Designed to cover all aspects of pharmaceutical environmental monitoring, the culture media range follows a fully audited trail.

A recently extended purpose-built cold room, continually monitored and alarmed, is used for holding quarantined product and released goods in segregated areas. Full temperature traceability is maintained during the transportation of product to the irradiation source, thanks to the company's monitored refrigerated vans. At the irradiators, the media is stored within a Biotrace owned monitored cold room until immediately prior to processing, giving complete control over the media during all stages of production.
