Dryer solves compressed air moisture worries for GSK

Added energy efficiency and economy were achieved by GlaxoSmithKline at its Coleford site, thanks to input from filter specialist Domnick Hunter.

The Pneudri high-efficiency compressed air dryer installed at the site has solved compressed air moisture problems.

The air dryer will clean and dry compressed air to ISO 8573.1, class 1.1.1. Production equipment failure and downtime caused by the problem has been eliminated by the new installation.

The modular design of the Pneudri eliminates the need for complex valves and interconnecting piping, reducing potential problem areas. In addition, the multibanking of dryers enables individual banks to be easily isolated for routine maintenance without interrupting the supply of clean air.

The dryer consists of high-tensile extruded aluminium columns containing twin chambers, each of which is filled with desiccant material that dries the air as it passes through. While one chamber is operational, the other is regenerating using pressure swing or temperature swing absorption.
