Small-molecule API specialist ESTEVE CDMO has announced that it plans to build a new production unit at its facility in Celrà, Spain.
The CDMO will also launch its new brand identity at DCAT Week in New York.
The news comes alongside the brand's plans for the expansion of both production capacity and advanced containment capabilities with a new production unit in Celrà.
Now, the company has announced plans to add a further 3000-square-meter production unit to accommodate additional spray-drying equipment and services within purpose-built, high-potency containment suites.
The multi-year investment plans include the installation of a GEA Pharma-SD PSD-2 spray dryer, which is scheduled to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2027.
This will be followed by the launch of a new PSD-3, expected to come online in late 2027.
The new facility will provide the necessary space and infrastructure for a commercial-scale PSD-4 spray dryer and additional projects are planned, including a second PSD-4.
According to ESTEVE CDMO, these investments will enhance its capability to safely and efficiently handle highly potent compounds while reinforcing its technological leadership in amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) solutions.
The company anticipates hiring up to 15 new staff members once the PSD-2 and PSD-3 operations are fully operational, with PSD-4 operations set to begin at a later date.
"As our work in Girona progresses, it is important that we remain aligned with the needs of our partners and adding spray drying capabilities can help solve problems they face with the characteristics of development pipelines, such as stability, poor solubility, potency and scalability," commented Joan Petit, President at Esteve CDMO.
Proactive investment in our facilities helps us deliver on our vision to be a global CDMO leader in small molecule APIs that is trusted by partners for quality and reliability.
At the same time, the company has also announced its new ESTEVE CDMO brand.
The firm said in its announcement that the new brand would establish a "strong, consistent global identity" that would allow it to project a "unique, distinctive persona, communicate the values that govern its corporate culture and interact clearly and meaningfully with its stakeholders."
"Excellence is embedded in everything we do—it defines our mindset and guides our actions at every stage," said Andrea Oro, Global Head of Commercial Operations and Strategy and Managing Director US at Esteve CDMO.
By truly listening, aligning and collaborating with our partners, we transform our shared goal of improving lives together into a real outcome. That is what we call the science of collaboration.
