FDA approves fifth H1N1 vaccine

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a fifth H1N1 vaccine. ID Biomedical of Quebec, Canada, acquired by GlaxoSmithKline in 2005, is the manufacturer.


The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a fifth H1N1 vaccine. ID Biomedical of Quebec, Canada, acquired by GlaxoSmithKline in 2005, is the manufacturer.

As with the four previous H1N1 influenza vaccines licensed by the FDA on 15 September, ID Biomedical will manufacture the product using the egg-based manufacturing process.

ID Biomedical's H1N1 monovalent vaccine will be produced in multi-dose vials, in a formulation that contains thimerosal.
