Flexicon introduces Flexi 6611 film
US company Flexicon has launched Flexi 6611, an ultra high-barrier foil-based structure for pharmaceutical and medical device applications. It is designed for moisture- and oxygen-sensitive applications that require a foil lamination to meet or exceed shelf-life expectations, such as metered dose inhalation devices and sensitive pharmaceuticals.
Flexi 6611, which is available both as rollstock and pre-made pouches, consists of (outside to inside) polyester/adhesive/aluminium foil/adhesive/clear polyethylene, resulting in good moisture vapour and oxygen permeability characteristics.
The moisture vapour transition rate (MVTR) is <.001 grams/100 sq. inches/24 hours, while oxygen permeability is <.001 cc/100 sq. inches/90% RH.
Additionally, the structure features Flexicon's Flexi-Free solvent-free technology, made possible by custom-designed laminating equipment coupled with breakthroughs in adhesive formulation. The laminate has also been engineered for superior sealing and machineability, enabling optimum production speeds.
