GEA Pharma Systems, a global technology leader for pharmaceutical processing solutions, has signed an agreement with ACE Technologies of Mumbai to sell its GEA Courtoy tablet presses throughout India.
ACE is one of India's leading suppliers of processing technology for the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. It has a wide customer network and service capabilities that will help GEA expand in this rapidly growing market.
Navin Lakhanpaul, GEA's regional manager in India, said: "The new agreement will provide an excellent service network enabling us to react more quickly to our customers" requirements for high quality service and supply of market-leading tableting technology."
The agreement currently covers the supply and servicing of Modul and Performa tablet presses manufactured by GEA Courtoy in Belgium.
The Modul machines feature Exchangeable Compression Modules (ECM), said to be ideal for rapid, multiple product tableting lines and applications that require a high level of product containment.
The Performa is for tableting facilities that require long runs and few product changeovers.
Until now all GEA's sales in India have been handled through its regional office in Vadodara, Gujarat. However the company has recognised that providing this growing market with the best possible service would require a national network.
A large proportion of GEA Pharma Systems" machinery is currently manufactured in Europe, however the facilities in Vadodara are being extended to provide a full manufacturing capability. The factory will be completed in March and provide locally produced tablet presses of European quality.
