ICE breaks new ground with larger coder

Published: 20-Aug-2002

UK-based Interactive Coding Equipment (ICE) is launching an enlarged version of its Zodiac thermal transfer coder. The Zodiac LA provides a bigger coding area than the original model and is therefore particularly suitable for applications requiring a large amount of variable information, such as ingredients, legislative details or several languages. A print area of 107x75mm is available, compared with 53x75mm on the standard model.

Both Zodiac models feature an electronic ribbon drive system, enabling print speeds of up to 1000mm/sec at 12 dots/mm resolution to be achieved and minimising downtime for ribbon changeover.

ICE will also be introducing a network system that allows coders of different makes to be linked together in one centrally controlled system. Based on a system developed by Claricom, it facilitates the incorporation of ICE equipment into manufacturers' existing networks.
