Key Technology is to acquire a 15% minority interest in Proditec, a manufacturer of automated, solid dose pharmaceutical inspection systems based on machine vision technology, which is headquartered in Pessac, France.
Key Technology, a Washington, US-based designer of process automation systems, integrated electro-optical inspection and sorting systems, and processing systems, will also acquire an exclusive option to purchase the remaining interest in Proditec.
David Camp, president and chief executive of Key Technology, said the acquisition would strengthen the company's strategic initiatives in the pharmaceutical market.
"Proditec offers an impressive product portfolio primarily focused on tablets and two-piece capsules, while Key's current pharmaceutical products primarily serve the softgel market," he said.
