Yorkshire-based Kinetic Concepts, which specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of laboratory furniture and fume cupboards, recently ventured into the Irish market.

Kinetic was selected to furnish laboratories for Fusion Antibodies, a therapeutic research and discovery company offering contract research to the bioscience industry, which had decided to move its operation to new premises in the Poleglass area of Belfast.

The project involved the transformation of the premises into a state-of-the-art facility, featuring purpose-built laboratories and entailing electrical installation, flooring, IT cabling, mechanical services, laboratory furniture and decoration of the full building. Kinetic designed and installed a benching system of powder coated steel framework with Trespa acid resistant worktops.

The company was then selected to furnish a new QC facility for the Belfast-based international pharmaceutical and medical manufacturer, Ivex Pharmaceuticals. Kinetic designed, manufactured and installed the project which included mechanical and electrical services, flooring and decoration of the laboratories within just six weeks from conception.

'We have a reputation throughout the UK for providing high quality laboratory furniture which is specially designed to meet the precise requirements of today's scientific, technical and medical professionals,' said Bill Longbone, managing director at Kinetic Concepts. 'Our recent projects in Ireland have been successful in increasing our existing client base and allowing us to build relationships outside the UK mainland.'
