Company showcase continuous granulator BCG 25, a flexible twin-screw extruder

With the continuous granulator BCG 25, LB Bohle presented a flexible twin-screw extruder at Interpack, which can be used separately or as part of a production line.

The powdery base material is fed and moistened via gravimetric feeders, which analyse the mass of the powder. This produces coarse granulates, which are further compressed and mixed in the BCG by a twin-screw.

The screws can be designed flexibly. Granulates of different porosity can thus be produced, which meet all requirements for subsequent drying and tabletting.

The control concept is linked to Process Analytical Technology (PAT), which enables standardised controls of processes and materials.

This leads to consistently high product quality with very low deviations because the process is automatically controlled by PAT and precisely pre-defined properties.

In addition, NIR spectroscopy is integrated into the system for molecular analysis of the granules. The BCG allows for higher production rates and, at the same time, less waste material compared to conventional granulators.
