OGT launches first fusion MRD NGS panel for AML

RNA-based panel detects and tracks high-impact AML fusion events across multiple timepoints at MRD-level sensitivity.

OGT, a global provider of genomic research and diagnostic solutions, has launched the SureSeq myPanel Myeloid Fusion MRD Panel — the first dedicated fusion MRD next-generation sequencing (NGS) panel for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML).

It is now available for customers to implement in their workflows.

Developed with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center through OGT’s myPanel custom service, the RNA-based panel detects AML-associated fusion events and MECOM expression at MRD-level sensitivity in a single assay, addressing gaps in traditional genomic workflows.

“Fusion signals can be missed when workflows rely on multiple assays or lack sensitivity,” said Adrian Smith, CEO at OGT.

“Our dedicated Fusion MRD NGS panel enables laboratories to detect, analyse and track fusion events at MRD-level sensitivity. Used alone or with the SureSeq Myeloid MRD Plus NGS Panel, it can provide a broader genomic profile of AML samples.”

In an initial study of clinical research samples at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, the workflow detected key fusion events, including BCR::ABL1 and PML::RARA, in serial dilutions as low as 1% tumour cells.

“RNA fusion detection could extend molecular MRD assessment to the approximately 20–25% of AML cases associated with fusion-driven disease,” said Dr Sean Glenn, Director of the Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“Fusion transcripts provide markers of residual leukaemia that can be monitored over time, including when no informative DNA mutation is present.”

OGT’s complimentary Interpret software supports analysis, tracking and visualisation of variants, including fusion events, across multiple timepoints.

Available as cloud or local software, it can also integrate third-party tools such as QIAGEN Clinical Insight (QCI) Interpret.

The panel can be used alone for fusion detection or alongside the SureSeq Myeloid MRD Plus NGS Panel.

Together, they support MRD-level detection of SNVs, indels, ITDs and fusion events in AML samples, reducing reliance on multiple single-analyte assays.
