Pantec Biosolutions, a Liechtenstein-based specialist in using laser microporation technology to deliver large molecular weight drugs into the human skin, has been granted a patent for the technology used in its Painless Laser Epidermal System (PLEASE) by the European Patent Office.
Pantec Biosolutions, a Liechtenstein-based specialist in using laser microporation technology to deliver large molecular weight drugs into the human skin, has been granted a patent for the technology used in its Painless Laser Epidermal System (PLEASE) by the European Patent Office.
The technology is currently in clinical trials for the delivery of IVF hormone therapy, a market with an estimated value of US$1.5-2bn.
"After receiving CE marking and marketing clearance for PLEASE last year, it is important for us to know that our key technology is now protected by patent laws," said Thomas Bragagna, chief technology officer of Pantec Biosolutions.
The company has an additional 19 applications pending in the US, Europe and Japan.
