To support increasing demand for larger-scale productions

Pharmatek, a US-based contract development and manufacturing organisation, has installed and commissioned an automated bottling line at its cGMP facility in San Diego, CA as part of its ongoing investment to support increasing demand for larger-scale productions. The line will be fully operational next month (November).

Manufactured by CVC Technologies, the line includes a Cremer electronic channel counter, capper, induction sealer, re-torquer and high speed wrap labeller. The system is integrated with a CVC electronic conveyor system and redundant quality inspection stations.

The firm says automatic bottling improves the efficiency and accuracy of clinical packaging, reducing overall costs and time-to-clinic. Additionally, the new line significantly increases its overall capacity, allowing higher throughput and larger GMP manufacturing runs.

'This is an important enhancement to our offering, enabling us to continue to support our customers throughout their development programme and into larger-scale operations,' said Tim Scott, President of Pharmatek.

Pharmatek offers primary packaging of tablets and capsules in HDPE bottles and supports secondary packaging, cold chain management, including storage and distribution, and stability testing. Complex labelling requirements, such as foreign language labels, blinding and booklet-labelling, are also accommodated.
