Plug diverters reduce downtime

Published: 1-Sep-2003

DMN UK will be showing its new DMN-Westinghouse GPD gravity plug diverter valve and an upgraded PTD plug type diverter. It will also have examples from its range of rotary, diverter and slide type valves, including a ceramic-lined rotary valve designed to thrive under the most abrasive conditions.

The new GPD gravity plug diverter is ideal for system installations which require frequent cleaning with minimum downtime. It has a one-piece cast body with easy in-situ removable end plates and rotating blade assembly. When transporting powders, changeover of the product flow can be done with the material flowing. The GPD is available in the sizes 150, 200, 250, 300 in aluminium, cast iron, stainless steel and with sanitary versions.

The upgraded PTD has an improved, user friendly design, is pressure shock resistant up to 10bar (size 200 excluded) and suitable for pressures up to 3 bar g (standard static seals) with sizes 50-150 optionally available for pressures up to 6 bar g (inflatable seals). The design of the PTD conforms to all current legislation regarding safety in the workplace. Consequently there are no exposed moving parts.

No one type of valve is the solution to handling abrasive materials in every application. Therefore, DMN Westinghouse offers a range of valve specifications, encompassing inexpensive light duty valves, up to the more expensive models offering extremely long service life and reduced total cost of ownership. The range includes standard cast iron, through coated cast irons, stainless steels, Ni-hard and ceramic type valves.
