Primary anti-body labelling

Published: 1-Jul-2002

Molecular Probes, of Leiden in the Netherlands, has launched Zenon One labelling kits, which offer a method to produce fluorescently labelled antibodies for flow cytometry, imaging and high-throughput applications. The kits enable the use of multiple mouse-derived antibodies of the same isotype in the same staining protocol, avoiding problems of species cross-reactivity, which occur when labelling two or three targets by conventional techniques. With Zenon kits an antibody can be ready in five minutes, a process that would normally take an hour. Also, the reagents can label as little as 1µg of antibody, compared with 100µg required by standard antibody labelling protocols. The technology is quantitative with respect to the primary antibody, allowing the user to vary the amount of labelling to suit his particular need.
