Sanofi aventis to expand manufacturing in Japan
Sanofi aventis KK, the Japanese subsidiary of French pharmaceutical company, plans to spend approximately ¥1bn (Euro 6m) to expand the drug manufacturing capabilities of its factory in Kawagoe, Saitama Prefecture.

The local unit recently obtained approval to produce Plavix in Japan; with demand rising and its co-marketing agreement with Daiichi Sankyo ending, sanofi aventis has decided to shift production gradually to the Kawagoe factory, which currently produces pills and ampoules of drugs.
The company will install additional tablet coating machinery, bringing its total annual capacity to 2.9 billion tablets.
