US-based company Schenck Accurate is targeting pharmaceutical manufacturers requiring high-level sanitary equipment with the launch of its PureFeed AP-300 Feeder.

The instrument is suitable for gravimetric or volumetric feeding of powders and granulates used in the pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals industries for the feeding of mills, mixers, extruders and compounders.

It features a disposable flexible feed hopper and programmable external dual-arm agitation system, to maximise material handling versatility. This means that the process is simpler, shorter cleaning cycles and virtually, no chance of cross-contamination when moving from one material to another.

The system offers feed rates from 500 grams/hour to approximately 150 Kg/hour and has a 316L stainless steel and 32 microinch RA interior finishes. The sanitary quick disconnect clamps make it easy to disassemble the feeder for cleaning and routine maintenance, according to the company.

The auger feeder is available in various geometries, which can be easily adjusted to the application and also handle challenging feeding tasks. Pulsation can be reduced at low delivery rates thanks to the innovative Wire Helix. auger geometry (patent pending). Feed hoppers of various sizes are available and even auger extensions are possible.

Schenck AccuRate is a self-contained manufacturer of bulk solids handling products, systems and controls.
