Shire, a global biopharmaceutical company, has settled a legal dispute with Teva Pharmaceuticals, the US generic drugs group.

The disagreement was over Shire's supply to Teva of a generic version of Adderall XR, for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which Shire claimed had been limited by US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) restrictions on amphetamine, which is the product's active ingredient.

Teva, based in Israel, has agreed to drop a lawsuit that claimed Shire had failed to meet its supply contract for Adderall XR.

Shire said after the lawsuit was filed, DEA had granted it with sufficient amphetamines to meet its commitments to Teva.

Teva has now dropped its lawsuit, including its claims for damages.
