Starna Scientific has extended the absorbance scale of its potassium dichromate linearity set of Certified Reference Materials to address a customer requirement in Quality Assurance laboratories to make multi-point linearity checks across the UV absorbance range.

Starna's new offering has been created to prove the linearity of the spectrophotometer UV absorbance scale up to 3.5 A using a range of 0 to 240mg/l solutions.

Formal verification, through a qualification protocol, that a UV spectrophotometer's absorbance scale is accurate within the specification of the instrument's manufacturer is a requirement for many regulated industries and research laboratories.

Starna is an ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO Guide 34 accredited Reference Material producer so the company's Certified Reference Materials provide a recognised validation method. Full documentation on measurement, handling and storage is also provided with each set of CRMs.

A key benefit for pharmaceutical QA managers is that the reference is traceable to NIST primary SRM 935a because solutions are prepared from the SRM, and in accordance with NIST Special Publication SP260-54. In addition, the reference spectrophotometer is qualified against primary physical constants, and other NIST primary SRMs.
