Vacuum cabinet dryer offers ideal conditions for drugs

Designed for the sensitive drying of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals in small to medium sized batches, a new vacuum cabinet dryer, available from KMPT UK, is also suitable for everyday operation in laboratories and pilot plants and can even be installed in a cleanroom or isolation cabinet should this be required.

The product to be dried is evenly distributed on individual trays that are loaded into the drying cabinet. Once the door is closed the product is heated to the required drying temperature via the heated surfaces. When the set temperature is reached the drying cabinet atmosphere is evacuated, with the developing vapour discharged via a vacuum pipe. A filter integrated within the vacuum pipe filters out any fine dust.

If required, the drying results can be improved even further. After the drying phase, pre-heated purge gas is conducted across the trays. Once empty a fully automatic CIP programme cleans the drying cabinet and prepares it for the next batch.

Highly active substances are loaded into the individual deep trays in a gate valve or isolation cabinet/booth. The trays are then sealed with a special dust-tight cover, enabling the product to be transported to the drying cabinet without coming into contact with the environment.
