CDMO Adragos Pharma has installed and commissioned a €4m cGMP-compliant pharmaceutical liquid filling line at its facility in Leipzig, Germany.

The novel filling line will increase the site's semi-solid and liquid pharmaceutical production capacity by nearly 10x, and will also serve customers in the cosmetic and healthcare supplement markets.

The line will be accompanied by a cartoning machine, which will allow for the efficient and high-quality manufacture of ointments, creams and gels.

According to Adragos, the new line is capable of filling up to 13 million bottles per year.

The installation project initially involved the relocation of two existing semi-solid commercial manufacturing lines, which were taken to new production areas at the Leipzig site.

“This new flexible production line marks a key milestone in the development of our Leipzig site, expanding its capabilities and reinforcing our dedication to delivering state-of-the-art manufacturing solutions to our customers,” said Florian Prell, Site Head of Adragos Leipzig.

The Leipzig site has been running for almost a century, and has specialist capabilities in semi-solid and non-sterile liquid pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Around 130 employees work at the site, with staff expertise ranging from analytical method development, pilot batch production, dose form development, raw material procurement and quality assurance.
