DDR robot advances target identification
The Direct Drive Robot (DDR) from Agilent Automation Solutions is for applications such as drug target discovery or drug screening, where reducing cycle times means drugs travel to market faster.
The company says the DDR is fast, precise and has been designed with safety in mind. It has a robotic arm with fewer moving parts, which means increased reliability and speed as well as a smooth action with precision and accuracy. Innovative one-person, one-touch teaching makes the DDR easy to configure, minimising setup time.
"Our direct drive technology means fewer moving parts to break down so that our users can have the confidence they need to focus on the science, not the machinery," said Marc Beban, director of integrated systems and software marketing at Agilent Automation Solutions.
The robot uses configurable Z-travel technology to enable greater stacking of instruments and more functionality in a smaller footprint. It also provides a fully customisable automation solution that integrates with almost any third-party instrument.
The DDR advances target identification and high-throughput screening for drug-discovery research and can also be used in genomics applications, including DNA extraction and PCR sample preparation.
