Symyx Technologies has opened a software research and development centre in Bangalore, India. Developers at the new facility will collaborate with other Symyx sites on scientific information management software.
The company is working with Encora, a Scottsdale, Arizona-based global provider of collaborative product development (CPD) services, to establish the Bangalore centre, which will deploy 30-35 developers through its collaborative engagement model by the end of 2009.
Products include the Symyx enterprise electronic lab notebook (ELN), data acquisition and decision-support software, plus scientific information databases.
"With the addition of developers in one of the most important and emerging tech centres in the world, our global r&d team has improved capability to respond to current and future electronic lab environment needs across the life sciences, chemicals and energy, and consumer and industrial products industries," said Dr Trevor Heritage, president of Symyx Software.
Symyx software gives scientists access to personal, laboratory, enterprise, proprietary and third-party information across different projects and platforms.
