Landmark installation for the Vapourtec E-Series system

Published: 15-Apr-2024

The landmark spreads the use of E-Series to 20 nations and comes in four standard configurations: easy-Scholar, easy-Polymer, easy-Medchem and easy-Photochem

Vapourtec’s E-Series flow chemistry system has recently reached the notable landmark of 300 installations around the globe.

Firmly established over the last ten years as the leading entry-level flow chemistry system, the E-Series has also been pivotal in many key research breakthroughs, appearing in over 250 peer-reviewed publications.

The most notable citations include “Continuous Flow-Processing of Organometallic Reagents Using an Advanced Peristaltic Pumping System and the Telescoped Flow Synthesis of (E/Z) Tamoxifen” and “C(sp3 )–H functionalizations of light hydrocarbons using decatungstate photocatalysis in flow”.

The E-Series is currently in use within 20 nations and is utilised by all the major international pharmaceutical companies.

Vapourtec founder and MD Duncan Guthrie commented: “The E-Series has surpassed our expectations in terms of its impact within academia and industry and has introduced the potential of a continuous process approach to thousands of chemists around the globe. It’s also played a key role in many flow chemistry research breakthroughs since its launch ten years ago. It works seamlessly with our array of reactors and other technologies to open novel chemical space and broaden the horizons of flow chemistry."

It's currently available in four standard configurations: easy-Scholar, easy-Polymer, easy-Medchem, and easy-Photochem with each offering precise control over reaction parameters and a modular design that means each system can be configured to suit specific needs. With pumps able to handle strong acids as well as air and moisture-sensitive reagents and suspensions, these systems can tackle a variety of chemistries.

“With machine learning and AI playing an ever-growing role, the E-Series will continue to evolve as a cutting-edge tool for flow chemistry. The new software package will provide automated reactions, data logging and interfaces to other laboratory equipment. This will enable telescoped reactions that incorporate E-Series and R-Series pumps, reactors, and third-party laboratory tools for analysis and automation."
